Motivated Successful Teacher - Business Japanese Professional

こんにちは。Arai Academy of Japanese Studiesの新井です。皆さんは日本人といい関係を作りたいけど、どうしたらいいかわからないと感じていますか。ビジネスでの成功に大切なポイントですね。そんな皆さんに山本真理子先生がどういい関係を作って、日本の有名企業でCOOになり、その後はその経験を活かしてビジネス日本語の先生になるまでのお話を紹介します。皆さんのお役に立てたら嬉しいです。

Hello. Do you want to build a good relationship with Japanese people but feel you don't know how to do it? This is an important point for success in business. I would like to share with you the story of how Mariko Yamamoto sensei became COO of a famous Japanese company and then used her experience to become a teacher of business Japanese. I would be happy if it is useful for you all.

山本先生は日本の企業で25年、有名企業のCOOとして10年勤務しました。その後、日本で働きたい外国人をサポートする必要性を感じ、日本人との上手な接し方や効果的なコミュニケーションなどを日本語のレッスンで教えています。現在はArai Academy of Japanese Studiesでも一緒にお仕事しています。

Yamamoto-sensei worked for 25 years in Japanese companies and 10 years as COO of a well-known company. After that, she felt the need to support foreigners who want to work in Japan, so she teaches Japanese lessons on how to interact well with Japanese people and communicate effectively. She is currently working with Arai Academy of Japanese Studies as well.

山本先生とは木村先生の紹介で東京で働いている生徒にレッスンをお願いしたことから始まりました。今はオンラインで日本以外の国にいる生徒にも教えてくれています。

I started working with Yamamoto-sensei when I asked her to give lessons to a student working in Tokyo through Kimura-sensei's introduction. Now she also teaches to students who are outside of Japan online.

山本先生がまだまだ男性社会の日本のビジネス界で女性でCOOにまでなれたのは日本人にとって一番重要な「信用力」が高かったからこそだと感じます。何よりも人に「信用」されることが大切です。ただ、約束の守り方、感謝の表し方、時間の守り方など、日本人のやり方が他の国ととても違うので、皆さんが学べるようサポートします。

I feel that the reason Yamamoto-sensei successfully become a woman COO in the Japanese business world, which is still a male-dominated society, is because she had a high level of "credibility," which is the most important factor for Japanese people. After all, it is important to be "trusted" by people. However, the Japanese way of doing things is very different from other countries, such as how to keep promises, express gratitude, and keep time, and I would like to help you learn more.

私は元大学講師ですが、ロンドンにある日本の有名企業でも教えているので、今でも日本の会社がいかに男性社会であるかを知っています。そんな中、女性で認められるというのはすごいことだと感じています。また、山本先生の豊富な経験から外国人の皆さんをサポートするために日本語の先生になったことはとても嬉しいですね。こんなに素晴らしい先生がArai Academy of Japanese Studiesで一緒に働いてくれているというのは本当に幸せなことです。

I am a former university lecturer, but I also teach at a well-known Japanese company in London, so I know how male-dominated Japanese companies still are. In such a situation, I feel it is amazing to be promoted to the top as a woman. I am also very happy that Ms. Yamamoto has become a Japanese teacher to support all foreigners with her vast experience. I am so happy to have such a wonderful teacher working with us at Arai Academy of Japanese Studies.
