I host meetings and events occasionally. When you receive an event information and attend it, you normally tell the organizer or person in charge. The best scenario is to attend as you said. However, you might be able to attend any more depending on the situation. For online meeting, the Internet might stop working, on an event in person, you might get trapped with transportation problems, or because of family matters or your own health condition. In fact, many people react in a way they lose trust from Japanese people without realising. So, please be careful.

Regarding B, what would Japanese people feel if you did not contact them in any way? It will be difficult to improve your relationship because they will not feel respect and appreciation for their hard work and preparation for the events.
